Nona R. Calhoun-Mumia, the newly elected Councilwoman for the Village of Lincoln Heights, has deep roots in the community, having been raised there since the age of four. Her family's history in Lincoln Heights dates back to 1946 when her maternal grandparents were among the first residents of the Valley Homes.


A proud alumna of St. Simon's Elementary and Lincoln Heights High School, Nona pursued higher education at the University of Cincinnati, earning degrees in Liberal Arts, Community Health, and Health Planning and Administration. Her professional journey has been marked by a commitment to social work at the University Hospital and significant contributions to local services and health centers.


Nona's international experience includes her tenure as a Lecturer and Department Head at Moi University in Kenya. Upon returning to the U.S., she continued her advocacy as a sickle cell counselor and project manager, later transitioning to roles at the Closing of the Health Gap and Humana, Inc.


Embracing retirement, Nona seized the opportunity to serve on the Lincoln Heights council, driven by a desire to contribute to the village that shaped her. Recognizing the economic and political challenges of the times, she remains dedicated to the resilience and self-governance of Lincoln Heights.
